D'ARCY BIOGRAPHY

D'arcy Elizabeth Wretzky was born on May 3, 1968 (there is much confusion over the date. Many people say it's the 1st of May.) in South Haven, Michigan. D'arcy lived with both of her parents and a handful of sisters.

She started out her musical career taking classical violin lessons and playing the oboe. She moved to bass guitar at 14 years old. She always knew that she wanted to be in a band, but she always thought she'd be the singer. She picked up the bass to make her "more valuable" bandmember.

Aside from music, D'arcy was also into gymnasics in highschool. Her parents took her and her sisters out of school for a month to travel around the US in a pull-trailor. During highschool she liked bands like Duran, Duran and was in a lot of cover bands.

After highschool D'arcy traveled around Europe, living in Germany and then playing in a band in France. When she arrived at Chicago's O'Hare Airport with no money and no real sense of direction she decided to stay in Chicago. She later got in a fight with a guy named Billy Corgan outside the Avalon Niteclub about a band that he said was "obviously put together by the record company because that guy keeps jumping around on stage." She then retalliated by saying that she was in a band and she "kinda moved around on stage a little." He then asked her if she wanted to join his band. Although she was in a band at the time she decided to go with Billy.

After a breif relationship with James Iha, D'arcy fell in love with Kerry Brown who at the time was the mixer and producer for many of the Pumpkins' songs. Now, of course, he's the drummer for the group Catherine. They moved to a big farm in Michigan where D'arcy likes to ride her horses.

D'arcy is keeping herself busy these days with Scratchie, the record company that her and James co-own, singing backup for Catherine, James Iha, and the Last Hard Men, and of course with the new Pumpkins' album, Adore.
